Compression Wave UT Probes

Normal Beam Probe

A single crystal transducer, sound wave vertical incidence and direct contact.

Features:

  • Wear resistant stainless steel housing
  • Wear resistant probe face protective layer, long service life
  • Good acoustic impedance match with most metals
  • 3 types of performance to meet the vast majority of testing requirements

Applications:

  • Simple structure of metals
  • Large plates, bars, forgings, metals and non-metals
  • Small tanks, pipes, castings, bars
  • Sandwich and laminated structures
  • Materials velocity and characteristics
  • Coarse grain or high attenuation materials

European Standard - N2

Highly popular style probe with renowned performance and ergonomically designed to reduce fatigue and handling with couplant covered hands.

  • Zero (0) Degree Probes
  • Classic European design sought after by technicians in Australasia
  • Side Mounting Connectors
  • Microdot (L5), Lemo 00 (C5), and Lemo 01 (C9) dependent on size
  • 5mm Probes can be customized as Top Mounting Connector

Soft Protective Membrane Probe

Protective membrane extends service life of probe and becomes a cost effective sacrificial component. Membrane flexibility allows use of rough materials without damaging the probe face.

  • Features
  • Less coupling effects on uneven surface of work-piece
  • Replaceable protective files, can extend service life
  • Membranes can be purchased separately

Applications

  • Simple structure of metals
  • Large plates, bars, forgings, metals and non-metals
  • Small tanks, pipes, castings, bars

Dual Element Probe

Independent transmit and receive crystals, and creates a creates certain focal length in workpiece

Features

  • No initial pulse dead zone effects
  • Less scattering, higher SNR in high attenuation material
  • Good coupling on curved and rough surfaces
  • Two types of performance probes can meet most of detection needs (PL and C)

Applications

  • Corrosion/Erosion Monitoring
  • Residual Wall Measurement
  • Suitable for calculation of coating thickness when used with associated software
  • Near Surface Defects Detection
  • Cracks, Impurities and Porosity detection in Forgings
  • Suitable for use with high attenuation materials

European Standard

Shape of probe allows easy manipulation therefore less frustration and fatigue.

  • PL Series is the default probe type
  • Side Mounting Connector
  • Lemo 00(C5) x 2
  • Requires 2 or dual cable
